QR13m prize money for Katara International Arabian Horse Festival

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will organize Katara International Arabian Horse Festival from Feb 2 to Feb 6, 2021.

In a statement, Katara General Manager, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, said that the festival will be held at the esplanade of Katara for the first time, with great international participation in the competitions for purebred Arabian horses, pointing out that the festival will feature a total prize money of QR13 million.

Al Sulaiti added that Covid-19 precautionary measures will be applied during the festival to ensure the safety of the participants and the fans, through coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

Director of the tournament, Badr Mohammed Al Darwish, said that the festival's activities will start on February 2, while competitions - divided into three categories - will start on February 4.

He added that the prizes will be distributed to the following class of competitions:

Yearlings (1 Year Old): the prizes are QR250,000 for first place, QR 150,000 for second and QR100,000 for third

Junior (2 -3 Years Old): QR800,000 for first place, QR 430,000 for second and QR 250,000 for third

Senior (4 Years Old and above): QR 1,000,000 for first place, QR 600,000 for second and QR300,000 for third.

The festival aims to promote the standing of the unique Purebred Arabian breed at the various local, regional and international stages by hosting the Qatar International Purebred Arabian Horse Show, which has been known for nearly 30 years as an annual international gathering of the elite Purebred Arabians. In addition, the festival includes several other associated events.
