The new logo of Qatar Off-Road Championship has been unveiled by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF).

The six-leg series will flag off next month, QMMF Executive Director Amro Al Hamad said yesterday.

“The Championship will consist of six rounds. The first round will be held on February 5 and 6 with the second set to take place on March 19-20,” Al Hamad said.

“The third round will be staged on October 8 and 9 with the fourth round taking place on October 15 and 16,” the QMMF Executive Director said.

The penultimate round will be held on November 12 and 13 while the season finale will be staged on December 3 and 4.

“The final round will be held in December. The final round will be held over two days,” Al Hamad said yesterday.

“As we announced earlier, the first three rounds will be Enduro and the remaining three Baja. The sixth and final round will offer double points to the participants who will be seen in action over two days,” Al Hamad said.

“As you can see, this is the new logo for the Qatar Off-Road Championship. The logo has been designed by Ghadeer Al Khayat who has joined us from UK. The design is very creative and shows details of our culture, our environment,” Al Hamad said.

After the conclusion of the first round of the 2021 Qatar National Sprint held outside in the parking of Losail International Ciricuit, Al Hamad revealed QMMF has made changes to this year’s series by introducing two new categories - the women’s class and allowing electric cars to feature in the hugely popular competition.

Al Hamad said QMMF also decided to spread the championship to more than four months - from December to April - as it was staged in previous years.

“We have been able to plan things better now. The championship will run throughout the year except for the summer months. So we have divided the season into two parts which now allows us to have more activities during each round and the extended series gives more time for participants to prepare for each competition,” Al Hamad said.

“In the past, when a competitor saw his car breaking down, he could not catch up and take part in the following rounds.

“But the situation is different now in light of the presence of sufficient time to deal with any breakdowns during competition.

“Our goal in the end is to help the participants to feature in the entire series with relative ease,” he said.
