Al Zubara Trophy: Guillambert guides Aaley Al Magam to win

Veteran rider JP Guillambert yesterday guided Meshaal Bin Ali Al Attiyah’s Aaley Al Magam Al Zubara Trophy win on the opening day of the Amir’s Sword Festival at Al Rayyan Park. Trained by Jassim Al Ghazali, Aaley Al Magam clocked a time of 2:16.02 to win the 2000m marathon on turf under lights. Guillambert won $85,500 for his superb effort as the season’s biggest horse racing week kicked off with fanfare at Al Rayyan Park. Lekhraib, trained by Mohammed Ghazali and ridden by Julien Auge, finished in second spot while Khatafaynee - with Maxime Guyon in the saddle - clinched the third place. Also yesterday, Alberto Sanna rode Mohammed Riyaztrained Hydroxide to win in the 6f Class 2 Thoroughbred. Owned by Abu Fass Stud, the 7YO gelding m a n a g e d a ¾-length win in a time of 1:11.50.
