The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced the postponement of the 49th Amir Cup between Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan, which was due to take place on Friday, May 14, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, to allow fans in the stadium.

“The new date for the final will be announced later after full coordination with all the relevant authorities, especially the Ministry of Public Health,” QFA said.

The decision to shift the game came after the announcement of the gradual lifting of restrictions that were imposed in the country to limit the spread of the Covid-19.

The new health protocols, especially with regard to local and international sporting events, will allow public attendance up to a certain percentage of the stadium capacity on the condition that the fans are fully vaccinated.

The decision to postpone the finals came as the championship always witnessed a large presence of fans especially for matches between Al Sadd Club and Al-Rayyan Club.

Al Sadd and Al Rayyan will meet each other following their respective semi-final wins. Al Sadd triumphed Al Arabi 3-0, whilst al Rayyan edged out Al Duhail 2-1 in their matchup
