SELEX CHAMPS IN QATAR AIRWAYS DIV A TOURNEY

Gulf Times

Doha, Qatar - Aneesh and Salim bowled superbly against Mosanda and inspired Selex to win the Qatar Airways Division A Twenty20 Cricket Tournament by eight wickets at the West Bay Ground.

Aneesh and Salim collected six scalps to skittle Mosanada, batting first, for just 106 in 17 overs. Aneesh was particularly effective, giving away just 11 runs for three wickets in his extremely economical four-over spell, including a maiden.

Salim’s three wickets cost him 35 in four overs. The two, however, succeeded in cutting short the Mosanada innings, despite Anwar Afridi’s superb undefeated half-century. Afridi blasted three fours and as many sixes to score 51 not out off just 28 balls. Ahmed Khan made 17 with two sixes from 22 deliveries.

Selex suffered two blows but the target was not big enough to pose any real problem to them. With Asif Abdullah and Afnas batting fluently, they wrapped up the victory in 13.5 overs.

Abdullah cracked half a dozen fours in his 38-ball 48 not out and he was supported well by Afnas, whose 22-ball unbeaten 30 had three hits to the rope. Shahbaz and Hasan shared the two wickets.

Aneesh was declared the Man of the Final for his excellent bowling.

Qatar Airways is the official airline sponsor of the annual cricket tournament. As the country’s national carrier, Qatar Airways continues to play a vital role in enhancing the already flourishing sports activities in Qatar and is a keen supporter for developing the next generation of cricket players in Qatar.

Qatar Cricket Association president Yousuf Jeham al-Kuwari and QCA Operations manager Manzoor Ahmad congratulated the winners Selex for their fine all-round performance in the final.
