QBSF completes preparations to host the Asian Snooker Championship

Qatar Billiards & Snooker Federation (QBSF) has completed all the preparations to host the Asian Snooker Championship, the first of the three international, continental and Gulf championships in snooker and billiards, with the participation of more than 100 players representing about 30 countries.

The Asian snooker championship will be held during the period from Sept. 12 to 16, then the Six-red World Championship from Sept. 17 to 21, followed by the GCC Billiards and Snooker Championship from Sept. 22 to 28, registration for the Asian Snooker Championship, has been closed, as 41 players have been confirmed to participate in the competitions representing 18 countries.

The Asian snooker championship will be held at Al Messila Resort, where two large halls have been prepared to host the finals, eight Qatari players will take part in the competitions - Muhanna Al Obaidly, Ahmed Seif, Mohammad Al Binali, Khamis Al Obaidly, Mohammad Al Sharshani, Bashar Hussein, Ali Al Obaidly, and Mansour Al Obaidly, (QBSF) has set up an internal camp for the players in order to prepare strongly for this tournament, especially in light of the fact that they have been away from participating in tournaments for a while due to the Corona / Covid-19 pandemic.

(QBSF), in cooperation with the Asian Confederation, also approved the Referees Committee, chaired by Mashalesh Al-Khayarin, including five Qatari referees out of 18 international referees.

President of the Asian Confederation and Executive Director of (QBSF), Mohamed Salem Al-Nuaimi confirmed that all preparations are ready for Qatar to host three consecutive world, continental and Gulf championships this month.

Qatar occupies a prominent position at the Gulf, Arab and Asian levels in the sport of snooker and billiards, and has also significant achievements at the international level, noting the federation's strategy and continuous visions to advance the sport of billiards and snooker and expand the base of its practitioners, as well as focus at the same time on the discovery of promising heroes, he added.

For his part, President of (QBSF), Mohamed Al-Ramzani, stressed the importance of Doha hosting three consecutive world, continental and Gulf championships this month, considering that Qatars organization and participation in these three tournaments is very important in the map of this sport, and among the priorities of the committee to develop the game and advance the level of players.

The delegations of 17 Asian countries will start arriving this weekend in Doha, to participate in this tournament, organized by (QBSF), under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
