Cricket season begins with Qatar Airways tourney

The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) kicked off the new season of its much-awaited Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament at the West Bay Cricket Grounds earlier this week.

The final of the Premier Division is set to take place in Industrial area at the Asian Town Cricket Ground on December 3.

Qatar Airways is the title sponsor for the annual tournament, which features 56 teams competing for top honours across three divisions. 

Over the years, the tournament has attained new heights and featured talented cricketers from Qatar’s diverse expatriate community. 

The QCA board has expressed its gratitude to Qatar Airways for its support in bringing people from various backgrounds and by providing an exciting platform for local enthusiasts to exhibit their passion for cricket.  

Commenting on the kick off of the new season, QCA President Yousuf Jeham Al Kuwari said: “We are highly optimistic about the level of competitiveness and sporting spirit that will be on display in this season’s Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament. We owe a great deal of our progress to Qatar Airways and H E Akbar Al Baker, who have helped bolster our progress in achieving our goals over the years. We hope to continue making strides in developing the sport for years to come.”
