Sports Integrity Week's 2nd Edition Concludes

Sports Integrity Week

QNA

The second edition of the Sports Integrity Week 2021, which was organized by the International Organization for Integrity in Sport (SIGA), concluded today via video conference after taking place over the past five days. The last day witnessed several important events, including the UEFA's reaffirmation of the SIGA system for evaluation, classification and independent verification known as Service.

UEFA's use of the evaluation system launched by "SIGA" in June 2020 opens the door for sports federations to use the first-of-its-kind classification and evaluation system in the world, which evaluates the various aspects of integrity and governance in the work of institutions, bodies and sports federations at the level of implementation and compliance with the 2020 version of the SIGA International Standards.

Director of marketing for UEFA Guy-Laurent Epstein indicated that it was important for UEFA to adopt (Service) to become a role model in this field for sports federations in the world.

Vice-Chairman of the Board of SIGA Mohammed bin Hanzab said that the second edition of the Sports Integrity Week 2021 comes as an extension of the success of the first edition, stressing that all SIGA initiatives during the past five years have created a wide movement. This has put the issue of integrity in sport on the agenda of the international decision-maker.

Bin Hanzab added that this demonstration created an unprecedented interaction through digital platforms in line with the precautionary measures and the repercussions of the Corona pandemic (COVID-19) to deliver the most prominent message, which is to devote the protection of integrity in global sport as a legacy and a necessary requirement for the sustainability and protection of sport.
