The second edition of the WTT Star Contender kicked off in Doha with the participation of the world's top-ranked champions.

The tournament is organized by Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) in cooperation with the World Table Tennis (WTT) at Lusail Multipurpose Hall till Sept. 25.

The WTT returns to Doha to hold the second edition of the Star Contender championship following the resounding success of the first edition hosted by Doha in March.

The tournament will be attended by 160 players, including the most prominent world champions and top-ranked stars at the international level.

The tournament organizing committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, imposed the exclusive participation of players vaccinated against COVID-19, in addition to periodically subjecting them to PCR tests, and maintaining social distancing while wearing masks at all times.

Khalil Ahmad Al Mohannadi, President of the Arab Table Tennis Federation and Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) and First Vice-President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) said that the success of the first edition in Doha had a great role in making world table tennis history, noting that the best Asian players are committed to travel to Qatar thanks to its success in dealing with the pandemic.
