Qatar captures gold in the Gulf Billiards and Snooker Championship

Qatar team won the gold medal in the snooker competition for teams of the joint Gulf Billiards and Snooker Championship, organized by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation at Al Messila Resort until Tuesday, with the participation of the six countries - Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, and the UAE.

The Qatari team, consisting of players Ali Al Obaidli and Ahmed Saif, won the title after defeating UAE 3-2 in the fifth and decisive round of the competition, which was held in a one-round confrontation system, to win the title.

The Qatari team started its campaign in the competition by achieving three consecutive victories in the first round, defeating Saudi 3-1, and then Oman 3-0 in the second round, and finally beat Kuwait 3-0, Qatari team managed to overcome Bahrain 3-0, in the fourth round.

Ahmed Saif, expressed his overwhelming happiness for achieving the title of the snooker competition for teams in the joint Gulf Championship competitions, we lost the first two matches with easy mistakes, although we came close to winning, to be late (0-2), noting that he and his colleague Ali Al Obaidli were able to come back adjusting the result (1-2), and then Ali Al Obaidli beat Muhammad Shehab to achieve a draw (2-2), and then I won the decisive match over Khaled Al Kamali to settle the match with a score of 3-2.

For his part, Ali Al Obaidly confirmed that the determination he showed with his colleague Ahmed Saif played a major role in winning the snooker gold for teams after the strong and exciting match that brought him together with his UAE counterpart in the last round of competitions.

Al Obaidli expressed his hope to continue to shine in the competitions on Monday, as he will participate in the 6 Red Snooker competition, which holds its Gulf title.

The Gulf Billiards and Snooker Championship will continue today, where the snooker 6 Red competition will start, as well as the billiards championship for the teams.

In the Snooker (6 Red), the 12 players participating in the tournament were divided into four groups, with three players in each group, with the first and second of each group qualifying to the quarter-finals, which will be held in a knockout system until the final match.

Brothers Ali and Muhanna Al Obaidli represent Qatar in the snooker competition (6 Red), where Ali was drawn in the first group, which includes alongside him the Kuwaiti Ahmed Abu and the Omani Sadiq Al Farsi, Meanwhile, Muhanna came in the fourth group, which includes alongside him the UAE Abdul Rahman Saif and the Bahraini Hamed Deif.

The second group includes the Bahraini Habib Sabah, the Saudi Yaman Al Amri and the Kuwaiti Abdulaziz Awadi, and finally, the third group includes Khaled Al Kamali of UAE, the Saudi Omar Al Ajlani and the Omani Hussein Al Hashemi.

Bashar Hussein and Walid Majed will represent Qatar in billiards competitions which will be held from one group, the most winning team will be crowned with the title.

Head of the Referees Committee at the Combined Gulf Championship for Billiards and Snooker, Mashlash Al Khayarin stressed that all the referees have the expertise that helps them reach the championship competitions in all the finals to safety.
