Al Sadd said that Xavi Hernandez has a two-year contract with the club, denying the rumors about his departure to Barcelona.
"In response to what's circulating recently, the Al Sadd management reaffirms that Xavi has a two-year contract with the club and is fully focused on the team's upcoming matches, to maintain our lead at the top of the league and to defend the title," the club said in a statement.
Spanish and international press reported that Xavi will take over as Barcelona coach, succeeding Dutchman Ronald Koeman, who was sacked due to poor results.
Al Sadd are on top of the QNB Stars League table with 21 points achieving the full mark from the seven games played in the season so far.
