The Amir Cup Shooting and Archery Championship for men, women and youth will begin at the Lusail Shooting Complex today and continue till November 21 with a large participation of shooters and archers from Oman and Lebanon besides Qatar.

Almost a hundred shooters and archers from Qatar will be seen in action while 48 athletes from Oman have entered the competition and 4 from Lebanon.

The Qatar Shooting & Archery Association (QSAA) has announced an administrative and technical committee for smooth conduct of the championship represented by Majid Ahmed Al Nuaimi (Chairman of the Organizing Committee), Ali Saeed Al Mannai (Tournament Director), Abdullah Ali Al Mutawa Al Hammadi (Chairman of the Referees Committee), and Hussain Al Sada, (Chairman of the Finance Committee). 

Al Nuaimi, QSAA Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organising Committee, confirmed that all arrangements that contribute to the success of the prestigious championship have been completed including the safety aspects of all those attending the event, athletes and public.

“The shooters and archers prepared well for this tournament and have attended training camps which will add to the competition, especially with the presence of Qatari men and women athletes, in addition to the teams from Oman and Lebanon, who seek to gain more experience by participating in this championship. The Amir Cup championship of is always exciting as everyone aspires to achieve their best and as such is very competitive,” he said.

Al Mannai confirmed that the event will be held with all the precautionary measures for the safety of all. 

“The participation of Oman and Lebanon shooters and archers is very encouraging and Qatari athletes will aim to produce their best to achieve best results.”

Rashed Al Khuwaiter, coach of the youth skeet team, said that the Amir Cup is important for promising youth athletes. “I have been striving with them in training to achieve a result at the youth level in this prestigious tournament. Today we have a group of promising people who have gained technical expertise I hope that each of the young participants will try to make the final rounds. A programme has been prepared for the youth for this tournament and I expect to achieve, especially what I find in their preparation through training at the Lusail shooting range.
