A high profile FIFA international referees conference has concluded in Doha.

A closing ceremony at Intercontinental Hotel was attended by FIFA, QFA and AFC officials.

The four-day conference was held from March 11 to 15. It was the fourth major referees’ conference in Doha in the last month.

A member of the FIFA Referees Committee, Hani Ballan joined other officials in handing over certificates to successful participants which totalled 115.

FIFA Referees Committee chief Pierluigi Collina and senior referee Massimo Busacca were also present.

The earlier FIFA referees were held from Feb 3 to 15, Feb 13 to 17 and Feb 25 to Mar 1.

A total of 29 members of the FIFA and QFA referees committees and representatives of the AFC joined 29 fitness instructors at the March 11-15 seminar.

The seminar was attended by distinguished international lecturers from various continental federations including Ismail Al-Hafi (Jordan), Issam Abdel Fattah (Egypt), Ali Ahmed (Somalia) and Nasreddin Shri (Algeria).

During the conference, legal aspects regarding the laws of football and its latest amendments, and the role of technology (VAR) were discussed at length.

Ballan expressed his pride at the conferences staged in Doha.

“FIFA’s insistence on setting up these courses in Qatar is the biggest evidence of FIFA’s confidence in QFA under the leadership of President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani,” Ballan said.

“QFA believes in developing the game involving all stakeholders under one roof,” he added.

“There are many parties that contributed to the success of these courses, especially the Qatar Sports Club,” he added
