AL GANNAS ASSOCIATION HOSTS QATAR’S FALCONERS CAMPAIGN TO RELEASE FALCONS

Doha, Qatar - The Al Gannas Association are having their third edition of their campaign to release Falcons back into their natural habitat

The theme of the initiative “Qatar’s Falconers Campaign to Release Falcons”, encourages Qatari Falconers, to submit their falcons to the Al Gannas Association to release them into the Wildlife.

Chairman of the Al Gannas Association, Ali bin Khatem Al Mahashadi, established initiative in response to proposals from Qatari falconers to preserve various endangered species of falcons to ensure their reproduction.

So far, the initiative is limited to Shaheen falcons, the association will launch a campaign later on to expand setting free various other types of falcons at a later stage.

The initiatives is in line with the associations keenness to preserve falconry, as it is listed of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Falcon that are submitted will carry the name of the Qatari falconer and a telephone number to contact. Tracking devices installed will be removed and the falcons will be released at an undisclosed location for the fear of being hunted again.

Submissions for falcons will be from 8am to 12pm at Katara, building 33.
