Integrity Task Force set up for FIFA Arab Cup 2021™

In line with its core objective of promoting the integrity of football across all of its competitions, FIFA has set up a multi-stakeholder task force to monitor the FIFA Arab Cup 2021™, which will take place in Qatar from 30 November to 18 December.

The objective of the initiative, which was already implemented within the scope of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™, is to enhance the protection of integrity by means of a task force that enables the efficient exchange of information on possible threats in real time. To do so, FIFA has joined forces with the Qatar Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC), the Council of Europe and its Group of Copenhagen, INTERPOL, the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS), Sportradar and the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).

During the Arab Cup, FIFA – with the support of the other Integrity Task Force members – will monitor both the betting markets and in-game action at every match. This competition is especially seen as an opportunity to test the functionalities of the task force ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

In addition, FIFA organised workshops with the integrity officers of the 16 FIFA Arab Cup participating member associations, who were subsequently advised to hold briefings with their respective national teams and delegations. FIFA also delivered integrity briefings to the appointed referees.

Similarly, in 2021, FIFA organised preventative activities in the area of integrity ahead of the Olympic Football Tournaments, the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021™ and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021™.
