Four-time Arab Cup champions Iraq were left at a standstill in their Group A match against Bahrain tonight at the Al Thumama Stadium, with the game ending in a goalless draw. Bahrain came to the game with a loss in hand, after losing their opening game to Qatar 1-0 on Tuesday, while Iraq finessed a 1-1 draw against Oman following a late penalty kick to clutch the equalizer.

Bahrain proved to be a difficult match-up for the Iraqi side, whose coach Zeljko Petrovic claimed to have analyzed thoroughly in their opener against Qatar in preparation for their face-off. Tonight’s game ended 0-0 after both team’s struggled to find any solid chances at goal, and the draw left Iraq with two points in the table, while Bahrain was left with one point to leave them at the bottom of their group ahead of Qatar’s match against Oman.

Bahrain must now prepare to face off against Oman in their next Group A match on the 6th of December in the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in an essential game for both sides, while Iraq will take on Qatar on the same day at the Al Bayt Stadium.
