QATARGAS CHESS: ANUPAMA, GOWTHAM SHARE LEAD IN U-16

India’s Anupama Sumith Aman and Gowtham Ramamoorthy shared the lead after three rounds on the opening day of the Qatargas Rapid Chess Tournament which began in Doha yesterday.

The Indian duo was leading in the Youth U-16 at Al Mirqab Mall, yesterday. The youth tournament is part of the 6th Qatargas Chess Championship, organised by the Qatar Chess Association.

Anupama and Gowtham, both competing in the Under-10 class, were tied at the top with 6.0 points, followed by Manas Jaiswal, also from India.  India’s Tom Allen and Amulya Guruprasad shared the fourth spot after yesterday’s rounds.

Today, the final rounds of the event will begin at 2.00pm.

The Qatargas Open Blitz Tournament will take place tomorrow, starting at 10.30am and will be carried out over nine rounds until 6.30pm.

Blitz Open Tournament will be conducted according to the Swiss System, consisting of nine rounds (5 minutes + 3 seconds increment per move, starting from move 1).

The closing ceremony will take place at the same venue, starting from 6.30pm tomorrow.
