Morocco has shown their footballing dominance tonight at
the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, showering Jordan with a seemingly endless barrage of
goals starting from the 4th minute. The Jordanian side made constant
efforts to thwart their opponents’ chances but could not crack the Moroccans
offensive line. The group C match ended 4-0 to Morocco, who left the game with
a continuing clear lead in the group rankings with 6 points.
The opening goal was scored by Yahya Jabrane, who finished a
poorly deflected ball from Jordan’s keeper to open up the scorecard. Goal
number two was scored in the 25th minute by Badr Banoun who tapped
in and finished a shot from his teammate Azaro that was going wide. One more
goal was scored before the half by Mohamed Chibi, who hit a spectacle of a
strike from just outside the box to beat the keeper far post. The closing goal
was scored in the 88th by Soufiane Rahimi who shared in the glory of
his teammates with a well-placed penalty kick that sent the keeper in the
opposite direction and solidified the win for Morocco.
The Jordanians will need to regroup and adjust their
gameplan ahead of their upcoming match-up against Palestine at the Ras Abu
Aboud Stadium on the 7th of December, as taking a 4-0 defeat will
surely have made an impact on the team but could possibly work as motivation to
overcome the odds in the tournament, but time will tell. Morocco will face off
against Saudi Arabia on the same day at the Al Thumama Stadium.
