Hosts Qatar have gone above and beyond in their quarter-final fixture tonight against neighbors UAE, scoring five unretaliated goals to
grant them a one-way ticket to the semi-finals.
The goal-fest was initiated in the 6th minute by
way of Akram Afif, who escorted the ball into the net with a deflection from
UAE’s defense, counting as an own goal. The second goal was scored in the 28th
minute by Asian Champion Almoez Ali, who took to the penalty spot, ensuring the
ball would breeze past the keeper, and another penalty followed shortly after
in the 36th minute, this time scored by Boualem Khoukhi. Abdulaziz Hatem found his way on the scorecard
in the 44th minute bringing his team up 4-0, followed by a brace
from Almoez Ali in the 44th minute to leave the final score at 5-0.
With the quarterfinal win secured Qatar now moves onto the semifinals
and will face off against the winner of tomorrow's match between Morocco and
Algeria. Their semifinal match will take place on the 15th of
December at the Al Thumama Stadium.
