Africa Cup of Nations: Morocco qualifies for the quarterfinals

The Moroccan national team has become the sixth to qualify for the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations, after beating Malawi 2-1 this evening at Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde.

Youssef En Nesyri and Ashraf Hakimi scored Morocco's goals in the 45th and 70th minutes, while Gabadinho Mahango scored for Malawi in the 7th minute.

Morocco, which has not won the African title since 1976, will face in the next round with the winner of the Egypt and Cote d'Ivoire match Wednesday evening.

Malawi team, which qualified for the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams, departs after maintaining its best historical achievement in this continental competition.
