Qatari handball team has qualified for the 2023 IHF World Men's Handball Championship in Poland and Sweden after topping Group A of the 2022 Asian Men's Handball Championship, currently held in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and continues until Jan. 31.
The Qatari team topped Group A with the full mark after the South Korean team withdrew from their match that was scheduled for today.
The Qataris raised their tally to six points to secure a place in the World Championship for the ninth time in their history. Qatar has previously qualified for Portugal 2003, Tunisia 2005, Germany 2007, Spain 2013, Qatar 2015, France 2017, Germany and Denmark 2019, and Egypt 2021 World Championships.
Qatar came in second place in the Qatar 2015 IHF World Men's Handball Championship, its highest ranking in its World Championship participations.
Qatar will take on second place in Group B of the 2022 Asian Men's Handball Championship on Saturday.
