The 50th edition of Emir Cup football will kick off from tomorrow with Round of 16 matches.
The Grand Hamad Stadium (Al Arabi Stadium) will host the opening match of this round between defending champions Al Sadd and Muaither.
Sadd may face Al Duhail in the semifinals if the latter beat Al Khor in the Round of 16 and also beat the winner of Al Arabi and Al Sailiya in the quarterfinals.
Al Sadd coach Javi Gracia said, “There is no room for relaxation. We have to focus and play this match like a final.”
Muaither coach Jose Murcia confirmed that his team wants to continue in the championship and would not like to exit early.
“I am happy to be back in Qatar. I think that this match is very important against the best team in Qatar. We will work to create opportunities and present a good match,” said Murcia.
