Stage set for HH the Amir Sword Equestrian Festival

The Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation (QEMPF) is ready to stage the three-day HH The Amir Sword Equestrian Festival, which begins tomorrow. 

The showpiece event of Qatar’s equestrian calendar will be held in the dressage, and Small, Medium, Big Tours and Future Riders showjumping competitions, where over 100 riders will be in action.

The dressage events are scheduled for the opening day, with the showjumping competitions set for Friday and Saturday.  The feature event – where the winner will be awarded the Amir Sword, QR65,000 in prize money and a car –  will take place on Saturday.

Yesterday, the QEMPF signed sponsorship deals with Qatar’s leading companies – Vodafone - Qatar, Al Emadi Enterprises - Al Hazm, Baladna Food Industries and Abdullah Abdulghani & Brothers. 

Badr Mohamed Al Darwish, the President of the QEMPF, thanked the sponsors for their support for the prestigious event.    

“I would like to extend my special thanks to Vodafone Qatar for their generous title sponsorship for HH the Amir Sword. Vodafone Qatar is a leading company in the telecommunications sector in the country and in the world. We are honoured to have them as the main sponsor for the tournament,” he said.

“I commend their constant, fruitful and unlimited support for equestrian sport, and we hope for continued support and joint cooperation to permanently raise the level of sport, which is the most important pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added

Al Darwish said the Amir Sword is the most important and largest event in Qatar’s equestrian history. 

“The tournament seeks to highlight the skills of the riders, who will be eager to win the Amir Sword, as it is considered the most precious title in Qatar,” the QEMPF chief said.

Sheikh Ahmed Noah Al Thani, Member of the Board of Directors of the QEMPF, said: “Baladna Food Industries are the sponsors for the third year in a row. We hope for their continued sponsorship and cooperation between us, because corporate sponsorship of sporting events in Qatar is of great benefit to Qatari sport, and we consider the companies to be key partners in any success achieved.” 

The event will be held in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI). Strict COVID-19 prevention protocols will also be followed at the venue.
