Defending champions Al Sadd are eager to bounce back in their Ooredoo Stars League campaign as they prepare to face Al Gharafa in the sixth round at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday night.

Al Sadd have struggled recently, suffering consecutive defeats to Al Duhail and Umm Salal, leaving them in 7th place with six points from five matches. They’ve won two and lost three so far. In contrast, Al Gharafa sit in 4th place with eight points, having secured two wins, two draws, and one loss.

Al Sadd view this match as crucial to getting back on track. Coach Felix Sanchez acknowledged the significance of the game, saying, “After our heavy loss to Al Duhail, it’s vital we perform well. Al Gharafa are a strong, organized team with continuity from last season, making this a tough challenge. But we’re confident and ready to prove ourselves.”

Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins is preparing for a tough contest. “We expect Al Sadd to be at their best. They rarely play two bad matches in a row, so we’re anticipating a fierce game. Despite injuries to Rodrigo and Madibo, and doubts over Jang Hyun-Soo’s participation, we will fight to win.”

Team captain Ferjani Sassi expressed confidence, stating, “Even with limited recovery time, we believe we can win. We respect Al Sadd, but we are focused on maintaining momentum after our victory over Qatar SC.”

Elsewhere in Week 6, Al Arabi will face Al Rayyan in a high-stakes clash at Al Thumama Stadium. Both teams are looking to climb the rankings. Al Arabi are still searching for their first win, currently 9th with four points after four draws and one loss. Al Rayyan, with two wins and three losses, are just ahead in 8th place with six points.

New Al Rayyan coach Younes Ali acknowledged the challenge but is determined to improve his team’s standing. “Derbies are unpredictable. We’re prepared to fight for the three points and aim to restore Al Rayyan to its rightful place.”

Al Arabi coach Anthony Hudson also emphasized the importance of the derby, noting, “This is a crucial game, not just for the points but for team morale. We know Al Rayyan are strong, but we’re focused and ready to give our best.”

Week 6 will also feature Al Wakrah against Al Khor, Al Shamal facing Al Ahli, Umm Salal playing Qatar SC, and Al Shahania taking on Al Duhail.
